Ethiopia – Odaco 250g

£16.00

Coming from the Shantawene village in Bensa, Ethiopia, this coffee is sourced from micro-lots comprised of 563 different members of the Daye Bensa group, responsible for the various coffees produced by the villages in the Bensa region. The Odaco name comes from the tradition of the “Odako tree”, a tree where the Shantawene community meets to resolve conflicts in the area, often just shortened to the Oda in other parts of Ethiopia. The name was chosen for the coffee to respresent the efforts of the Shantawene people in producing an exceptional quality and consistency with their cherries, and for the outstanding work it is putting back into the community via schemes with the farmers and the local schools.

The coffee itself is a natural process, dried on african beds for 13-15 days; while one person is assigned per each individual bed to rotate the cherries every 15 minutes to ensure uniformity of drying. This meticulous attention creates a cup with outstanding tropical sweetness, with pineapple and strawberry acidity and herbaceous mint notes, and a surprising creaminess pushing through; akin to mango and coconut.
